Founded in 1922, The Royal Group has evolved from a small manufacturer of wooden boxes and pallets into a comprehensive packaging and display company, proudly serving clients across a wide range of industries nationwide.
The Royal Box Company, now known as The Royal Group (or TRG) was founded in 1922 by several Nerenberg siblings, including the oldest sister, Molly, who was the first member of the family to immigrate to the United States from Europe in the early part of the century.
The company began by manufacturing wooden boxes and pallets for the growing manufacturing industry in Chicago.
Throughout the early part of the 1930’s and 1940’s, Royal began investing in equipment and technology to convert corrugated sheets and in the 1950’s purchased its first corrugator. By the 1990’s Royal had acquired several other locations in the mid-western United States and celebrated its 75th anniversary.
In 2007 The Royal Group was purchased by Schwarz Partners LP, a privately held, second-generation company headquartered out of Indianapolis, IN. Schwarz Partners owns a portfolio of like-minded companies across the country specializing in various markets such as paper mills, corrugated sheet manufacturing and converting, packaging and displays, and transportation.
