Title: Maintenance Electrician (Fully Qualified)
Location: The Royal Group – Cicero, IL

The Royal Group, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners, is currently seeking a Maintenance Electrician to support our Cicero, IL facility.  As a Maintenance Electrician, you will perform duties to maintain and repair a variety of production, electrical and plant equipment and assist manager with any emergencies, and procuring parts, standardizing components and assisting with inventory levels.  Union position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

1. Work from daily job assignments, prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, machine manuals, sketches and preventative maintenance check sheet
2. Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns involving electrical test procedures, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components; pull wires, bend conduit, etc.
3. Regular and predictable attendance; overtime required
4. Tear down equipment, rebuild and replace defective parts and components like motors, gear boxes, clutches, bearings, etc.  Redesign circuits as necessary, modify or prepare wiring
5. Perform regular checks on building equipment such as sprinklers, pumps, chillers, compressors, generators
6. Work closely with production personnel on equipment repairs and any safety problems
7. Fabricate machine parts as required and requisition repair parts as needed
8. Maintain plant water system and assist with sampling as needed
9. Install and hook-up manufacturing equipment, exercising care as to size of motors, voltage requirements, and balance circuits for proper power distribution; all in accordance with code requirements
10. Assist outside contractors on on-site projects

OTHER SIGNIFICANTJOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

1. Excellent attention to detail with strong safety orientation
2. Collaborates with other production departments to maximize the maintenance functions
3. Drive a forklift truck
4. Work in a clean and orderly manner and leave area clean and safe
5. Use various tools like: hand tools, probes, scopes, pH test equipment, lifts, welding equipment, measuring tools, hoists

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED; previous experience in Maintenance preferred

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Maintenance and/or technical school certificate; 2+ years of Maintenance experience preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)

  • Proficient with hand tools, good manual dexterity
  • Thorough understanding of manuals and drawings
  • Good interpersonal communication and ability to work a lot of overtime

PREFERRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)

  • Excellent verbal communication skills; excellent attention to detail and inquisitive nature
  • Knowledge of computer control programs
  • Ability to quickly determine most pressing needs at the time

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Prolonged periods of standing and bending.  Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 pounds at a time.  Must be able to access all areas of facility to determine maintenance needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Factory area; loud plant environment with hearing protection and other PPE required.  Plant area has dust, heat, cold, chemical exposure and moving machinery.
